Navigating My Way Project

About Navigating My Way

The Navigating My Way project provides tools and resources to help consumers access the NDIS.

The project is designed and developed by and for people with a lived experience of mental health, psychosocial disability, or who have used mental health services.

This project values genuine co-design, self-advocacy and lived experience.

It’s funded by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

This project will create resources and tools to:

  • Make it easier for people to understand their rights
  • Help people apply for the NDIS
  • Show people how to ask for changes or make complaints

How we did it

Since November 2023, the Navigating My Way team has been working with consumers on the co-design of these resources.

Throughout the co-design process VMIAC met with 49 consumers across Victoria and asked them to identify their needs, wishes and rights from the NDIS.

An advisory group of nine consumers provided guidance throughout the development of resources

Resource development

We are now creating the resources and tools. We will be using ideas from everyone to create:

  • Videos
  • Factsheets
  • Flow charts
  • Guides for talking to people
  • Templates

What’s next?

Stay tuned for exciting updates about Navigating My Way, including:

  • Hosting launch events to celebrate everyone’s contributions
  • Organising community education sessions in Victoria and across Australia
  • Promote our resources nationwide
